Privacy policy

We collect what we need to find your case, prepare your Answer, and file it. We do not sell your personal information, and we never store your full card number. Court dockets are public records; what you tell us in the intake is not.

• Information you give us: your name, ZIP code, email address, phone number if you share it, and your responses to the intake questions about the debt and your defenses.
• Public court records: details of your case from the Harris County Justice of the Peace docket, such as the plaintiff, amount claimed, court, and filing dates.
• Payment information: handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of your payment, not your full card number.
• Usage data: basic technical logs, such as pages visited and device type, used to keep the service working and secure.

• To find your case and show you its status and deadline.
• To prepare your Answer from your responses.
• To file your Answer with the court electronically.
• To send you service emails about your deadline and your filing.
• To provide support and improve the service.

If you separately opt in to text messages, we will only use your number for case notifications, and you can opt out at any time by replying STOP.

• The court: your Answer and the information it contains are filed with the court, where they become part of the public case record.
• Service providers: our e-filing system, payment processor, email provider, and hosting provider, only as needed to run the service.
• Legal requirements: if we are required to by law, subpoena, or court order.
• Business transfers: if Meercase is acquired or merged, your information may transfer with the business under this same policy.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access limited to people who need it to serve you. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep your information as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal and accounting obligations, then delete or anonymize it.

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@meercase.com. Note that documents already filed with the court are part of the public record and outside our control.

Meercase is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest revision, and material changes will be noted on this page.
